The Busoni Competition is a founding member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions (WFIMC), which in turn is a member of the International Music Council, founded by UNESCO in 1949. As a network and exchange platform for 120 international music competitions, it also plays an essential role for the Busoni Competition: as part of the Festival, young pianists who have won one of the affiliated competitions are regularly hosted. This year in Bolzano, the audience will also be able to witness the debut of the 19-year-old Roman Fediurko, the winner of the Horowitz Competition Kyiv-Geneva in April 2023. The event was of outstanding political symbolism, as the Kyiv-based Horowitz Competition, which could not be held at its headquarters due to the Russian attack on Ukraine, was relocated to Geneva to great international acclaim.
